Front gardens
A welcome home after a long day and a friendly reception for visitors, the front garden or the area surrounding the most used route into the house is seen all through the year and benefits from careful design.
To make a more interesting route for a long garden try to include a winding path with features to break the walk.
With a more formal straight garden path, a simple symmetrical design can be clean and refreshing.
Many front gardens have space for parking, but it is worth keeping an area close to the front door for planting and scented flowers, especially during the winter months. In some case the front and back gardens merge and it is difficult to get the privacy for one without it feeling unwelcome for the other. Taller planting and slatted screens or fencing really help divide the spaces. Interesting gates, paving and planting in a front garden can really make a house feel like your home.
